Conference Venue

ICPE 2018 will take place at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Berlin, the capital of Germany. The Academy was founded in 1700 by Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646-1716) under Elector Frederick III of Brandenburg. From the start, this institution united the natural sciences and the humanities. After World War II, the Academy was under the administration of the Soviet Zone of Occupation (SBZ). In 1949 it moved from Unter den Linden to the building of the former Prussian Maritime Trade Company at Gendarmenmarkt. The building is in the old center and the long, not always happy, history of the city is still visible at its doorsteps. The location of the conference is very close to Brandenburg Gate, the Opera, the main building of Humboldt University, the Museum Island, and many other touristic sites. Berlin can easily be reached by man continental, and also a few inter-continental flights. The weather in April if often mild and sunny, so this is the perfect time to come to Berlin.
